Samsung has launched its 98-inch 8K Neo QLED TV in South Korea. The TV bears model number QNC990 and is priced at KRW 49.9 million (around $39,000) in the country. It will go on sale starting today and brings many benefits to those whose pockets are overflowing with wads of cash. With the launch of this TV, Samsung now has a 98-inch TV in QLED, Neo QLED 4K, and Neo QLED 8K segments.

The QNC990 (the model number for the TV's South Korean version) is a 98-inch Neo QLED TV with 8K resolution and a Mini LED panel. It features HDR10, HDR1o+, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10+ Gaming, HLG, and hundreds of local dimming zones for high peak brightness. It has a 144Hz variable refresh rate with support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. It has an anti-glare coating to reduce glare and reflections from light sources. Samsung says that Pantone has validated the TV's color reproduction as accurate. You can further calibrate colors using a smartphone running the SmartThings app.

It has a 6.4.4-channel speaker setup with 120W of audio output. Other audio features include Dolby Atmos Wireless, Q-Symphony 3.0, Object Tracking Sound, Adaptive Sound+, and Active Voice Amplifier.

The TV uses the Neo Quantum Processor 8K chip and runs the Tizen 7.0 operating system. It has all the audio and video streaming apps on top of other features like Bixby, Samsung Gaming Hub, Samsung TV Plus, Samsung Health, SmartThings Hub, Game Bar 3.0, and Super Ultrawide Game View. Connectivity features include four HDMI 2.1 ports, USB ports, an optical out port, an RF port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, Tap Sound, Tap View, Miracast, Wireless DeX, and AirPlay 2.

This new 98-inch 8K TV has what Samsung calls an Infinite Slim Design, which uses metal for the bezels as well as the rear. The TV has an extremely thin side profile, and the bezels are thin, too. The speakers are on the rear and all the edges of the TV. It also features compatibility with Philips Hue smart lighting. It has a One Connect Box, which makes it easier to set up the TV in a neat manner.

Kim Chul-ki, Vice President of Samsung Visual Display division, said, “The 98-inch Neo QLED 8K, which is being introduced this time, is a representative product that integrates Samsung's innovative technologies.” When buying this TV, users can get 2 million Samsung Membership points, an 85-inch The Frame TV, and HW-Q990C soundbar for free.
