One UI 7 brings call recording feature in the USA

The One UI 7.0 beta update, which has been released to the Galaxy S24 series in the USA, has brought the call recording feature. While Samsung isn't calling it call recording, you can use the Call Transcripts feature to record voice calls on your Galaxy device running One UI 7.0.

Call Transcripts feature in One UI 7.0 can be used to record voice calls

The call recording feature has been hit-or-miss in the US for legal reasons. However, Samsung is offering a way to record voice calls with One UI 7.0's Call Transcripts feature. It allows you to start recording an ongoing voice call manually, which could be irritating for most users. But at least the feature is there when you need it.

When you start recording the call, the phone announces to both users (caller and callee) that the call is being recorded. Once the call is recorded, you can get its audio file and its AI-generated transcription. Samsung currently supports call transcriptions in over 20 languages.

This feature is similar to Google's Call Notes feature, which is available on Pixel phones. It was introduced with the Pixel 9 a few months ago and has been released to some older Pixel phones with a software update.

Apple has also released a similar feature to iPhones with the iOS 18 update. You can watch Call Transcripts and other hidden One UI 7.0 features in our video below.

While the Call Transcripts feature is available in the beta version of One UI 7.0, it will likely be present in the stable One UI 7.0 update that could be released in the first quarter of next year.
