At today's Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, Samsung unveiled seven new devices, all featuring Galaxy AI. After announcing the features and pricing of all those devices, the company unveiled the Samsung XR headset launch time frame, and it is coming this year!

Samsung XR headset launch to happen by the end of 2024

Earlier this year, Samsung announced that it is working on an “XR device” and that it will be launched in the future. However, the company has been mum about it until now. At today's Galaxy Unpacked event, the South Korean firm revealed that its XR headset is coming this year.

The company didn't reveal whether it will just showcase the XR device this year or actually launch it. However, we expect the company to at least showcase the device before the end of this year and probably launch it sometime early next year, likely alongside the Galaxy S25 in the first quarter of 2025.

Watch our hands-on video of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 below.

Samsung's first XR headset is expected to run a version of Google's Android operating system designed for XR headsets. It reportedly uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, which could be the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2+, which was unveiled a few months ago.

The XR headset could also use two 3,500ppi Micro OLED or OLEDoS screens from Samsung Display's subsidiary firm eMagin. It will likely be a high-end device and work with Galaxy smartphones (and probably laptops). However, it remains to be seen if Samsung pits it directly against the $3,500 Apple Vision Pro.
